Motorcycle Test & Training FAQ

Can I start training on my current driving licence?

Your licence must have provisional motorcycle (Category A) entitlement on it. If you have a two part, full car licence, provisional entitlements are shown on the paper counterpart below the name and address box, above the endorsements section. If you have only a provisional licence, entitlements are shown on the reverse of the photo-card. If you have a one piece licence, please check with our staff before booking. European licences can only be used to undertake training if accompanied by a UK counterpart showing provisional motorcycle entitlement. Non EU licences cannot be used.

Do I need to sit a Theory Test?

If you intend to gain a full motorcycle licence, you must sit a Motorcycle Theory Test. Book this directly with the Driving Standards Agency at www.gov.uk/book-a-driving-theory-test or on 0300 200 1122. You do not need to do a theory test to sit the CBT

Who will teach me?

All our instructors are qualified at least to CBT1, the standard set by the industry's governing body, the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), and are subject to regularly inspected. You can rest assured that we insist on the highest standards from our team of experienced instructors.

How do I book?

To book, we need to take full payment for your course. We do not have an online payment system, so either phone to book on 0131 667 7305 - menu option 5 with a debit or credit card, or come in to our premises at 36 Peffermill Road. We are open 7 days for bookings, from 9 till 6 Monday to Thursday, till 5.30 on Friday and Saturday, and from 12 till 4.30 on Sunday. If booking a full licence course, we will need your driving licence number at time of booking.

What happens on the day?

Be here in plenty of time. Remember, there will be other pupils attending the same course as you. We cannot shorten their day, because you are late. Dress sensibly, with warm clothing and sturdy footwear, and make sure you bring both parts of your licence. You will be required to pass an eyesight test, so make sure you can read a car registration plate at a distance of 20.5 metres.

If bringing your car, park on street, where there are no restrictions. If bringing a push bike, ask the instructors to lock it away for you.

The training school reception is situated in the brick building in front of the main showroom.

We usually break for lunch between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. You can bring something with you, or we are within a short walk of Cameron Toll shopping centre.
